Wooden Bird Feeders

Wooden bird feeders are a great choice for any backyard or garden.  They are a great way to attract a large variety of birds.  They are probably some of the oldest styles of bird feeders. 

Wooden bird feeders are often thought of as cedar bird feeders, but there are many different types and shapes of wooden bird feeders.  Wooden bird feeders are strong and sturdy.  The wooden bird feeders are generally made of cedar wood or red wood. 

They are capable of holding a large supply of seeds, which are effectively protected from sun, rain and snow. 

Many elaborate and simple wooden bird feeders are available online, in stores, and at craft shows. Although the price range is pretty wide wooden bird feeders are generally cheaper than those made from plastic or metal in similar designs.

Wooden bird feeders can also be platform or ground bird feeders, which allow pecking birds to enjoy a seed meal, and allow you to have a beautiful backyard bird sanctuary. 

They can also come as suet bird feeders or many different types of hanging bird feeders including gazebo bird feeders. 

A wood bird feeder make great gifts for anyone that enjoys the company of birds. 
Unfortunately there are also some disadvantages to using wooden bird feeders also, most will tend to weather and fade over time without some kind of protection.  Perhaps the biggest disadvantage of wooden bird feeders is that they are a little more difficult to keep clean and sanitized.  You should clean your wooden feeders more often than you would a plastic or metal bird feeder to help prevent the spread of disease.
